Dr. Mark A. Hartzband, M.D. | Orthopedic Surgeon | Paramus NJ | Hackensack NJDr. Hartzband was one of the first surgeons to perform minimally invasive hip and knee replacements. He has pioneered many of today’s surgical techniques including two-incision hip replacement and quadriceps sparing knee replacement. Dr. Hartzband has helped developed some of the industry’s most advanced orthopaedic implants including a gender knee and hip specifically designed for a female’s anatomy.

In addition to being medical director and founder of Hartzband Center for Hip & Knee Replacement, he serves as Director of the prestigious Joint Replacement Service at Hackensack University Medical Center and is the Director of the Bone & Joint Center at Holy Name Medical Center.  Dr. Hartzband lectures nationally and internationally, he has authored numerous articles and book chapters on topics relating to total hip and knee arthroplasty, minimally-invasive techniques and computer assisted surgical navigation.

After receiving his medical degree from McGill University in 1978, Dr. Hartzband completed a two-year general surgery residency followed by an orthopaedic residency at the Montefiore Hospital/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He received his board certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1986, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is an active member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
